Today’s Friday Favorites is all about music. I love music. I listen to it while I work, cook, clean and workout. There is something about music that lets you escape the stress of everyday life.

I like all types of genres, from top 40 to jazz and country. But, there is a group of artists who I would call one of my favorites. I briefly wrote about them in my Friday Favorites: St.Patrick’s Day article, but I want to let you know a bit more about Byrne and Kelly.

Byrne and Kelly, featuring Ryan Kelly and Neil Byrne, combine genres like traditional Irish and American to create a fresh, folk sound. Their acoustic concerts are intimate, fun and simply amazing. You can check out some of their concerts here.

The duo, who have been performing together in Celtic Thunder, launched their first  ‘Acoustic by Candlelight’ tour in 2013. They were awarded “Best Duo in Concert,’ and when you see their show, you’ll see why.

What I love about their concerts is that a lot songs are original music from their chart topping albums. Their first album, ‘Acoustically Irish’ took the Billboard #1 position, World Album and #1 on iTunes.  Their second album, ‘Live in Australia’ also topped the charts as #1 World album on Billboard. They’re now working on their third album, which is due to be released this summer.

Since their first tour, the duo has grown to include Nicole Hudson on fiddle and Peter Sheridan on mandolin and keyboard. I can tell you from seeing them perform that their talent is unbelievable.

There are a couple of things that separate Byrne and Kelly from other performers. First, their music is for everyone. It’s not trendy, it does not have profanity, and it comes from their heart. Turn on the radio and see if you can find music like that. Second, they are real, sincere people. They are award winning singers who have traveled the world, but they appear as regular guys. I’ve had the opportunity to meet them and I can tell you from experience that they are extremely nice. They’ll take the time to talk to you or take a picture. What internationally known performers would do that?
