It’s called UV Detection Jewelry by M.Mills Co. The Connecticut based company created this line using SolarActive crystals that change color when the wearer is exposed to UV rays. It is a reminder that you Need to wear sunscreen. They have bracelets and necklaces to choose from in dozens of beautiful colors and styles. Two bracelets in the collection have been named after survivors. The hot pink Czech Chystal line is called the Meghan UV detection bracelets, named after Meghan Rothschild. Megan was diagnosed with Melanoma when she was only 20 years old, during her sophomore year of college. Meghan has spent her adult life educating people of all ages how to prevent and detect of skin cancer. ALL net proceeds of the Meghan bracelet go directly to the Melanoma Foundation of New England. You can read more about her story here. This is an amazing company and I predict that you’ll be seeing them in some national health publications very soon!
We know that sunscreen is very important and the M.Mills jewelry is spectacular, but I admit, I like to have a little bit of a glow. Sunless tanning has come a long way and gone are the days of looking like an Umpa Lumpa when we’re faking it. Spray tanning is the only way to get a safe tan. One of the best spray tanners out there is Sunkissed Spray Tan. Kaila Chianciola, the owner has been spraying local ladies and gentlemen for years, including myself. She is an expert and you always get a beautiful glow. The best part is that the products she uses are all natural! She has three different kinds of shades, it takes just minutes to do and you walk out glowing! The tan lasts for about a week and fades evenly. It’s a great thing to do before a special event, vacation or you just need a pick me up from the winter blues. I tell you, there is nothing better than a healthy glow in mid-January to lift your spirits.
We all want to look good with that healthy glow, so I bring you a great free fitness app called My Fitness Pal. Our good friends at Active Lifestyle Fitness introduced me to it and it’s great. You type in your weight and how much you want to lose or if you just want to maintain. Then you track everything that you eat, I mean everything. To save you time, you can scan the barcodes of food products. At the end of the day it will tell you how much fat, carbs, proteins, vitamins etc. that you took in. You really get a sense of what you’re putting in your body and what you may need more of. The cool thing is that it saves your recipes and meals, so once you get going you don’t have to type in the same thing everytime. You always here nutritionists say to keep a food journal, well this is it… and it can provide you with a lot more information that just a journal. If you want to take it a step further, when you participate in the small group training at Active Lifestyle Fitness, your trainer will read your Fitness Pal account each week and provide you with even more feedback and tips.
So here’s to a healthy weekend everyone.
Cheers!
