How often do you say “no”? If you are like many people, I am guessing that the answer is “hardly ever.” You don’t want to let anyone down. You want to be liked. You want to be a team player. Sound familiar? Whatever the reason, by saying yes to everything, you are saying no to the important things in your personal and professional life. I am slowly learning to say ‘no’.
It’s a battle that no one is going to win…the battle to be perfect. I’ve struggled with it all my life. From wanting the perfect body, to striving to be the perfect mom, wife, friend, and business owner.
My usual 40-minute drive to work is filled with calls from clients and listening to my favorite podcasts.
When people ask me what I do and I tell them I’m in public relations, their reaction is all very similar. It goes something like this, “Ohhhh…that sounds exciting.” PR is exciting – I love it. But, for many folks, that seems to be all they know about it. In addition, somehow PR gets meshed into the job category of marketing and communications. Well, it’s not either of those.
