This is not your usual public relations blog. In fact, it has nothing to do with public relations. But, as a mother and business owner, I felt compelled to write this to the moms out there.

The medals in the above picture all belong to my ten-year-old daughter. Did she earn them for winning a soccer tournament? No. Did the team receive them for having an undefeated season? No. For the last 6 years, my daughter has been given these medals for “participating” in the sport.

Recently I’ve been writing a number of blogs on work/life balance. As my business grows and the family demands increase, I am constantly seeking to find a balance. Today’s Friday Favorites is all about what’s been working to keep me centered (minus a weekly glass of wine or two.)

The sun is shining, the streets are sparkling clean, you can smell the popcorn and cotton candy and you’re greeted by a smiling cast member who says “Welcome to the Magic Kingdom.” Awe…you’ve arrived. You’re at the happiest place on earth. It’s the beginning of the day and the park is surrounded by happy families and smiling children.  What could be better?

I usually write about businesses or products in my Friday Favorites. But, this week I’m straying from the norm. Today, it’s about friends. Without friends, where would you be? Well, I know that who and where I am today is partially because of my friends.

Treat people how you want to be treated. That was engrained in my head at a very young age, and I now say it to my children everyday. It baffles me how many people don’t follow that in their personal and professional lives.

My usual 40-minute drive to work is filled with calls from clients and listening to my favorite podcasts.
