Today we’re talking about being available for the media.

When the press calls and they say that they want to come by to interview you in an hour…they’re not kidding!

Here’s how it works, your pr team pitches a story to the media in the morning. They have a meeting and if they decide to the story they want to do it that day, usually that morning.

In the last couple of weeks, we’ve had this happen multiple times. Most recently, I called my client to tell her she 45 minutes to be ready for her interview. What did she do, she jumped in the car and made it happen. That’s the way it’s done.

Because here’s the deal, if you are not available to meet with the press they are either not going to do the story or they’ll talk to someone else… maybe your competition. So unless you’re in Tahiti on a beach…reschedule your meetings and make it happen. You won’t regret it.
